What in the World Happened Today | Language and Literacy, Social and Emotional, Visual and Creative Arts | | Dots on Paper: Children gain a sense of independence and self-confidence as they help in the classroom. After engaging with art experiences, they practice self-help skills by taking proper care of their art materials as they clean up. At home, you can encourage your child to return art supplies to baskets or storage containers where they belong! Observation & Reflection

Language and Literacy, Social and Emotional, Thinking and Learning | | Manipulative Line-Up: Many children enjoy arranging or lining up materials in a certain way. Though this may seem like a simple way to play, this promotes persistence as children follow through on a task, visual-spatial awareness, and helps develop hand-eye coordination. The way children choose to line up objects also demonstrates inventiveness in thinking.

Language and Literacy, STEM, Social and Emotional | | Pass the Beanbag: Using a beanbag we have been working on passing from one person to another. It may sound simple, but passing requires that children not only coordinate their movements, but pay attention to the movements of others. To teach this, we remind children to pass gently with two hands and to make sure the other person is watching. Passing experiences also encourage sharing and turn-taking, skills that are still developing for young children. |
