What in the World Happened Today STEM, Thinking and Learning Today the infants explored colorful stacking cups of different sizes⁠. They practiced reaching, grasping, and knocking down towers, which helped support their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination⁠. Through this play, the children also explored concept such as size, color, and cause and effect⁠.

What in the World Happened Today Language and Literacy, Social and Emotional, Thinking and Learning Today, the infants enjoyed an engaging farm animal activity that combined music, books, and hands on play⁠. We used soft animal puppets to sing “Old McDonald Had a Farm,” which encouraged the children to listen, repeat sounds, and begin building early language skills⁠. We also read a farm animal story with real pictures, helping the children connect the animals in the song and toys to real life images⁠. Along with this, the children explored a toy barn filled with animals that they could take out and play with⁠. As they handled each animal, we talked about the colors, names, and the sounds they make, such as “The cow is black and white and says moo⁠.” This experience supported their language development, color recognition, and sound awareness while also strengthening their fine motor skills as they grasped and pulled the animals from the barn⁠. Through singing, reading, and exploring, the infants were able to practice important developmental skills in a fun and interactive way⁠.

What in the World Happened Today Health and Wellness, Language and Literacy, STEM We explore and fill different containers to enhance our sensory and motor skills⁠. Through activities like filling soft bins with plush toys and exploring nature's treasures in wicker baskets, children will develop fine motor skills, cognitive abilities, and sensory awareness⁠. This engaging and exploratory aims to foster curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning⁠. Today we will be discovering out nature baskets and what else we could find! Language and Literacy, STEM, Thinking and Learning As we challenge children to find specific items in our classroom, we are helping them to develop their working memories, an important component of executive function and our Thinking and Learning curriculum element⁠. Children work to retain and use small pieces of information as they see or hear what they are trying to find, and then go to look for it⁠. Health and Wellness, STEM, Thinking and Learning Engaging in dramatic play with boxes develops imagination and creativity⁠. These experiences support motor skills, social interaction, and cognitive development as children explore different roles and scenarios⁠. Additionally, using boxes in play encourages problem-solving and critical thinking, laying a strong foundation for future learning⁠. Language and Literacy, STEM, Toward a Better World During departure, we invite families to make observations about the colors, shapes, and lines they see in a display of interesting artwork and photos⁠. Take a moment to observe and share your thoughts on what you see, helping us understand and celebrate their learning experiences⁠. Health and Wellness, Language and Literacy, STEM, Thinking and Learning Using our peekaboo boxes, children have been working on refining hand-eye coordinated movements and expanding their understanding of cause and effect⁠. These boxes with drawers make this experience even more challenging for children because they must open and close the drawer to discover where the object went⁠.
